1.Reviewing Previous (Old) UI Concepts:
After: Wrote down some notes and key points that can be changed and adjusted.
- Current corners are too shop (it could be a factor that distance users away from the new feature, since it is too harsh)
- Too much text components (difficult for users to understand the promoting idea right away)
2. Exploring New Possibilities after Analyzing Old Designs:
Thoughts: Because the main colours for Rocketman are red, white and black, I explored with applying more red to certain components, adding time line to show direct visualization (allowing users to understand their reward progress clearly) and large application of photography.
Illustration Exploration:
Thoughts: With the time line design being approved, we moved forward to including some illustration components to add some playfulness and interesting interaction with users.
3. Experiment Interesting Interaction Components
Thoughts: Understanding, brainstorming and testing various interaction features to entertain users to attract them to stay longer using the service.
Reflection:
Even though I was only able to assist the team on a small part of the overall project, it has taught me a lot with understanding app functionality and the human VS technology experience. It allows me to learn from thinking from the users but also the business's perspective and connect the two sides together to deliver the idea. Some questions that I ask myself constantly during the design process were:
- How can I design something that requires a shorter reading span from the user?
- How do I deliver the idea fast, easy and direct to the user with the business focus?
- Is this working with the brand guideline?
These were all questions that I go back and forth to, if there is one step that is unclear, I would connect myself with the researcher and dig deeper into understanding user behaviours for our target market. Recognizing how a concept is developed from a rough start to presenting something new and unique. This was an amazing project that allowed me to work with multiple teams and talented individuals, developing judgment and perception into designing the visual language that acts as a bridge between users and business.
